USPS, FedEx, and UPS Are Increasing Their Rates


USPS proposed new postage rates for 2020. Once approved the new rates will take effect January 26, 2020. For more information about products and services, please visit the USPS website.

FedEx announced price an average price increase of 4.9% beginning Monday, January 6, 2020. FedEx Express, FedEx Ground, FedEx Home Delivery®, FedEx SmarPost® and FedEx Freight rates will increase. There will be changes to shipping surcharges and fees that may apply to your shipment and affect your total shipping rate. FedEx® Retail Rates will increase. FedEx One Rate® pricing will increase.

Additionally, effective Janaury 20, 2020, there will be an increase to FedEx Express® shipments assessment fees, changes to applicable surcharges for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground fuel surcharge assessment, and additional criteria and pricing for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground packages that require additional handling or are oversized will change. The FedEx Freight Capacity Load minimum charge criteria will also change.

UPS rate increase goes into effect on Wednesday, December 29, 2019. UPS® Ground, UPS Air and International services will increase an average of 4.9%. The rates for UPS® Ground, UPS Air and International services will increase an average net 4.9%. Other items to review include fees for rebilling requests, prohibited items, charges applied to undeliverable packages, and late payment fees if an invoice is not paid in full by the invoice due date. The rates for certain value-added services and other charges will also increase.

In addition, the weight threshold for assessing an additional handling surcharge will be lowered from 70 pounds to 50 pounds actual weight for UPS Ground and UPS Air services.
